League: Northwest League
History: On the strength of their pitching staff, led by George Storti and Berlyn Hodges, the Ems won the Northwest League pennant and topped the Salem Senators in the post-season playoffs in 1955. The club was managed by former Brooklyn Dodger catcher Cliff Dapper. Dapper has the distinction of being the only player ever traded for an announcer, when in 1948 he was sent by Montreal to the Atlanta Crackers, so that Crackers announcer Ernie Harwell could substitute for an ailing Red Barber. Harwell was replaced the next year by one Vin Scully.
